I am basing 28mm Napoleonic figures on individual bases. I have tried out creating the texture using floor tile adhesive. It seems very easy to spread across the base and texture. The plan is to prime over it, paint and add flock/tufts. Has anyone tried this? Should I expect retraction/shrinkage as it dries? Is it durable? Just curious. Please let me know. |

I have never experimented with that adhesive. Sorry. I have, however, experimented with various ideas, and concepts, for miniature gaming. You won't know unless you try!… Give it a go, and report back to the rest of us, if you will. I, personally, look forward to hearing back from you! Please, do some experimentation. That is how new ideas become standard practice, within the hobby. Cheers! |

They will probably curl up on you, I tried using 12x12 squares for bases on buildings and they would never lay flat. |

@Grossman, I don't think the OP means the self adhesive floor tiles ( which we tried back in the '70s) but the plaster like adhesive which is used to lay ceramic tiles. It's similar to ployfilla and some of the commercial basing stuff, so could use it. I used to use polyfilla, but it was just too awkward to get around multiple figures on single bases so I use PVA, sand and static grass. |

The best way may be just to try it yourself and report back. A thin layer over the base and then just stick the figures down into it so their bases are flush with the surrounding adhesive. You may want to colour it prior to using it so you don't have to worry about painting between the closely ranked figures! |
