I've seen the April 9 movie and the majority of the soldiers have the khaki greatcoat with a few still in the black M1915 greatcoat. I know they used alot of original equipment, I have seen a few photos with soldiers deployed in the M1915 (which seems more common period photos than the movie depicts). Is there a "proper" mix of the two greatcoats? Was one more prevalent than the other for the 4th Infantry Battalion depicted in the movie? Thanks for any input! |

As I recall and I could be wrong there were a mix of greatcoats due to the Danish habit (well, not unique to Denmark) of not replacing items of uniform until they wore out – I have seen drawings of both and am not sure which would have been more common in the 4th Infantry PDF link |

From one book I have read, recruits doing basic training would be issued with the grey uniform with either grey or black greatcoat, after basic training they would be issued khaki uniforms with either khaki or black greatcoat. 45% of the army wore khaki on 9. april. |
