I'm looking to put together a platoon plus supports of Fallschirmjager in 20mm for the later period of the war (thinking 1944 onwards in NW Europe). I'm looking at AB Figures to make up the core of the platoon but was just wondering what other ranges are out there that would be compatible (in terms of size and uniforms). Any suggestions?

I would not buy anything but AB. Simply the highest quality and most dynamic range of poses.

On the plastic side, Pegasus and Italeri's later set (not the ESCI reprint) work well with AB in my view. Although larger, the faces and poses really work. Italeri is the bigger of the two. Plastic soldier review is a great resource.
On the metal side nothing really is done as well in my opinion.

I like the FFA if you can get a shipment. Most 20mm mix well (and I'm a bit of a scale bigot). I believe my FMJ force has about 5 different manufacturers figures.

Col dumford, which 5?

AB, FAA, SHQ, Platoon 20, and at least two others who are no longer available. The Platoon 20 and SHQ are somewhat smaller, but still fit in.

Have a look at Simon's Soldiers. He has t he old Wartime range and is expanding on it quickly. Sculpting done by the same guy as Battlefield – which I would hoover up as soon as I saw any. And they go well with AB and have a more 'battlefield / worn' look.

To quote Col. Durnford: "if you can get a shipment" from FAA.

Good luck with that. If you succeed, do let us know, because I'll want to try my luck again.

The other two are still available.

Sadly Battlefield/Blitz are not trading at this time. I recently contacted them about placing an order and the owner, Stuart, said they are not accepting orders due to health issues. He said he hopes to reopen but cannot give a date.

Also a +1 to rct75001'a recommendation of Simon's Soldiers. I recently ordered from them (early war French and some Italians) and the communication and service was excellent an the miniatures were very nice.

My last experiment (before Covid-19) with FAA took seven months and twenty or so emails. Not recommended though the figures are nice.

id go with simons or battlefield.
I have some battlefield for sale as well if you are interested

tqd/cp models, shq, faa. OOP sgt majors miniatures, warmodelling/fantassin

my choice would be ab, battlefield and simons.

CORONEL DUNRFORD, the Stonewall miniatures are pirate figures, and the casting of the miniatures is horrible.

Another + 1 Simons Soldiers also, I picked up two battalions before I departed Australia

stay away from Stonewall they are using moulds they were supposed to destroy

In fact molds that Capitan Games declared before the judge to have destroyed.

I ordered from FAA on 10/6/20 and my figures arrived on 10/16/20. Probably spent a few days stuck here before being delivered. The order was correct, well packaged and included a Thank You.

I've just released a new set of kneeling FJ and if Australia Post can find the lost packet of new masters there will hopefully be another set by Christmas

For those of you on Facebook look for Simon's Soldiers and ask to join which is where the latest news is released first

Another +1 for Simon's Soldiers. I had great service from them earlier this year. I am sad to learn about the lost masters (I have heard the French Command I was waiting for were in that parcel 😢 -- hopefully they will turn up 🤞).
