The US Army Mark II "Sheridan" Light Mechanized Walker is the world's first mechanized walker to successfully combine steam technology with hydraulics to give it the flexibility to move quicker, is more agile and essentially uncannily mimics the movements of the steersman. In the US Army the steersman is a commissioned officer, usually from the Corps of Engineers. link
