I'm working on some Dark Ages armies using Essex 15mm figures. I have the LBM decals designed for Essex figures. However, I don't care for the match between the decal and the shield. It leaves a white rim around the shield I have to try to use paint to try and match the decal to get rid of the white. Can anyone suggest decals designed for other miniatures that are slightly larger than the ones designed for Essex? They have Dark Ages decals for; Khurasan, Legio Heroica, Mirliton, Old Glory 15s, and Splintered Light. I sent LBM an email but haven't received a reply yet. |

When I used their Imperial Roman transfers, I would go back around the edge with a darker shade of the transfer background color. It covers any gap and makes the transfer pop a little more. Now the EIR shields had reinforced metal edges so that hides the edge of the transfer a little too. |

Think of it as a color mixing workshop. I think it really improves ones artistic talents over time. I've actually become quite good at it and even look forward to the challenge! |

With LBM ,I have found having figures from various different ranges ,that the transfers are a little on the small side.I have also found that adding a slightly darker paint for the edges of rimless shields works. For shields with a rim ,the normal wash around the rim is suffice. Gentle dry brushing of the whole miniature in a colour like Vallejo Beige blends everything in. Battleflag transfers tend to be slightly larger and a very good softer tends to sort out any overhang. |
