Printing Scenario Maps with Poster Software

You've got a scenario map, and you need to create some hills. Is there some way to just print out the map in very large scale, so you can trace the outline of the hills you need to build? The Editor finds out...

Started building this mess last January, hoping to run my Escape The Titanica! game at 2020 Little Wars. With six weeks to go, I was more than 60 percent finished, with only one and half "spaceship" boxes to finish. Then came March 13. Everything shut down. Convention eventually cancelled. And we had to flee downstate to escape the plague, much like they did in "The Seventh Seal." What should have taken six weeks is now finally finished, mostly, six months later. Gentlemen, I give you Titanica …

Above: Overall views from the dungeon my wife lets me use for miniatures work.

Above: Four boxes open to reveal four levels each.

Above: Close-ups of Box 1. Most of terrain material downloaded from genetmodels.com/free-stuff

Above: Close-ups of Box 2. Learned a lot about building with paper terrain. Like use a black marker on the edges, and always pre-score your folds. Some of the cargo terrain is from earlier builds and it shows.

Above: Close-ups of Box 3. Covering the top of the walls with adhesive black foam covered a multitude of sins.

Above: Close-ups of Box 4.
Game involves 8 crews trying to reach the four escape shuttles before they die or the ship explodes or both. Each crew has two units of 5. Squads include Ripley and not-the-Nostromo, Mal and not-Serenity, a Weyland Industries retrieval team, the Covert-13 crime syndicate, a team of bounty hunters, the Garn, the Aslan and, everyone's favorite, the Vargr. Game also features about 50 crew and passengers and about 90 Aliens. Only problem now is actually running the game since my immune system is shot and I'm not supposed to leave the house.
Autumn Wars is out of the question. So is Winter War. Hoping for Little War 2021 or Rock-Con 2021. Maybe Adepticon?

Amazing amount of work and a beautiful job. Would love to play if it ever comes to HMGS east coast conventions.

The detail of your layout is incredible. Hope to catch it in use at a future Little War or Adepticon.

Looks great. What rules were you going to use?

FearAndLoathing16 Sep 2020 10:54 a.m. PST

Rules are modified FUBAR sci fi rules link
Basically easier activation, with an option to go either go on overwatch or run in a blind panic if you fail activation. Basic move is 6 inches, can be doubled to 12 if you opt to move in both phases. Game is all about movement, basically a race with a lot of looting, shooting and melee along the way. It's a long way for those little 15mm soldiers to run

FearAndLoathing -- FANTASTIC job!!! When the time comes I hope you are able to run it in-person at all three of those conventions!

I also found myself working on a somewhat epic game intended for a at least 6 in-person players when COVID-19 hit. I was hoping by the time it was scheduled to debut in mid-August we'd be able to play it the old-fashioned way, in person, but that proved impossible. So we pivoted to a long-distance version played using "GOOGLE MEET". I got 2 web-cams, one for each side, and supplemented them with close-up views from player POVs on the table, shot on iPhone cameras. What made this feasible was getting 2 additional volunteer GMs, one for each side of the game. In your case, with 8 different factions, you wouldn't want 8 added GMs, but we were dealing with armies of about 450 vs. 325 troops. You might be able to cover it all yourself, or get one or two additional GMs to join you in-person and help speed up play at bit. Though it was not what anyone had originally expected, our 6 players and 3 GMs all really enjoyed the "remote" version. Still, I'm happy to admit we are all looking forward to the day when we get to do it again all together around the table.

Whatever you do next, I look forward to reading about it and hopefully seeing more pics!
