There have been a number of Sci Fi shows where the fans loved the ship….the Enterprise, the Falcon, the Ghost, the Serenity, Nell….I am sure there are others…. Then there are shows where people are meh about the ship…they have no emotional attachment to it. The Enterprise D, the newer Enterprises, And others… What makes a fan come to love a ship ?? Cool looks? "personality?" Love of the crew for the ship??? |

I imagine we echo the feelings of the crews? |

Moia is/was taking that to the extreme, in Farscape. Ships are nice, if they're any good, but inanimate objects, so not really characters in my view. Fans of Battlestar Galactica, and her captain/admiral would probably disagree. |

Spacedock has a great video on this topic. YouTube link I was heartbroken seeing the Enterprise A dish explode and then burning in the atmosphere. My heart sank when the Galactica's spine buckled after its last jump. The sunken feeling when the shadows appear and so easily take out a Narn Fleet while G'Kar is praying. I didnt care about the Ent B, E, or whatever afterwards because there was just too much plot armor. |
