"Seth MacFarlane has been hard at work on The Orville in recent years, although the third season of the Star Trek-esque TV show hasn't yet debuted on Hulu. MacFarlane is already attached to a new project, however, and it's not set in outer space. The project is definitely unexpected, but already seems totally awesome. MacFarlane is on board for an adaptation of two books into one show called The Winds of War. The Winds of War will be a limited series based on author Herman Wouk's The Winds of War and War and Remembrance, according to THR, and Seth MacFarlane will executive produce as well as co-write the script. The project tells the tale of an American family's journey across the continent during the era spanning World War II. The books, published in 1971 and 1978 respectively, were both previously adapted into separate miniseries in the 1980s…." Main page link Amicalement Armand

The original miniseries cannot be improved upon. Another example of Hollywood having a total lack of new ideas. |

Thought the original miniseries was terrible. Robert Mitchum played a US Navy Captain that happened to be at every major event of W.W. II, both Europe and Pacific, including the first RAF bombing raids over Berlin. Ya, US Navy operating with RAF bombers in 1940. Ali MacGraw's character was so annoying that I was rooting for the gestapo to catch her. Show is bad when you are rooting for the bad guys to get rid of one of the main characters. She said that role ruined her career. So, Hollywood might not have any new ideas, but there is room for improvement. |

I remember the show & liked it, though I was a kid back then when these series first aired (yes, I was like 12 when WoW first aired & watched it; I was not like other kids). But with that said, I wouldn't mind a refresh of the series, new perspectives & modern film making techniques. Seth McFarlane is definitely geeky & despite his work on shows like Family Guy, I have confidence his geekiness will show through & do a decent job of it. Also this is not like rebooting Star Trek here. Since a movie adaption of a book is already borrowing ideas from another source, it can be argued the original series lacked originality too. Damon. |

I enjoyed the book and the miniseries. It was a long miniseries, so some incidents obviously stood out over others. The scene at the Nazi death camp was so well directed, so devastating in the way events moved forward inexorably, following the whole horrible process from arrival to conclusion. Truly a haunting experience. |

Hopefully the three leads wouldn't be 20 years too old for the parts. |
