Late war German infantry uniforms show significant variations in tone on black and white photographs of squads, etc. These variations match the differences in colour seen with reenactors of the period. The variations occur on the same individuals (eg different jacket, trousers, and puttees) as well as across multiple individuals. FWIIW, I use a mixture of colours for 28 and 15mm figures. field grey or green grey (70.886) for the tunic, though sometimes grey as well; greys (London Grey; Neutral Grey; Light Grey for example) for the trousers; and grey (different from trousers) or khaki (70.988) for the puttees. Thanks Chris, I deleted the original post about Espinosa when the bug cross-threaded it with this post about WW1 German uniforms. I was going to repost but then kind of gave up in despair :) |
