"It was the late 1880s in the city of Rajkot, India. The meeting was to take place on the banks of the local river – and discretion was essential. Mahatma Gandhi, who was just a teenager at the time, hadn't told his parents where he was going; if they had found out, they would have been shocked to death.

As it happens, Gandhi was having a picnic. And on this occasion, India's future national hero – and one of the most famous vegetarians in history – wasn't planning to dine on cucumber sandwiches. No, for the first time in his life, he was going to eat meat…"

If vegans are so smart, as they sometimes like to claim, how come they're ALWAYS at the bottom of the food chain, and are "what's for dinner"?

The article is spot on.

Predators rule!

I keep a fairly strict vegetarian diet. Almost all of the animals I eat are vegetarians. Poultry tend to be omnivore/insectivores, and fish are often carnivores, but cattle, lamb, pig -- this is making me hungry.

I avoid eating vegans, they tend to make my colonic emanations somewhat noxious.

La Fleche,
Are you saying vegans are noxious? I have a sister in law that would confirm that.

Vegans yes, in-laws I have not dared try given how many people say they cannot stomach theirs.

Yeah, my sister-in-law says she's a vegan, but I know that when no one is looking she will sneak in a "slider" or two. My son, at the insistence of my granddaughter, his daughter, says that he is now vegan, but I'm not buying it. He's been a devoted carnivore for over 44 years so I actually don't see it happening. Hell, till he was about 11 he wouldn't eat anything at a restaurant but a burger.
