OK, so now that we've found where I can get some good 15MM minis, does anyone have some good suggestions for rules, suitable for solo as well as multi-player. I have done this period before many many many years ago, I used to use a really nice easy set called "Tercio", sadly now out of print. Easy to read, easy to use, and it had nice lists at the back for OOB for various armies. I had done research and the lists seemed to be fairly accurate in terms of proportions, i.e. infantry vs cavalry vs artillery. Any ideas out there? |

By Fire and Sword is what we use. Quite detailed though, and not cheap. |

Were there any tercios in the 1800's? |

Those Tercio rules (not the old TTG ones) are excellent, we have been using them in our Imaginations campaign for the last eighteen months and they play fast and give realistic results epicureanwars.blogspot.com coopman, The Spanish may have still been using the name "Tercio" in unit titles but by the 1800s they were using a three-deep infantry line like most of the rest of Europe. |

My bad, I didn't notice the 19th century discussion. I just saw Tercios and posted that. That seems an odd title for a 19th century game. Although it also is attached to Renaissance, so which is it Von Schwartz? Renaissance or 19th century? |

Bashy, I crossposted by mistake, should've been Renaissance |

What I am looking for is a good uncomplicated set of rules for pike and shot/Renaissance. I had referenced "Tercio" because that was the name of the rule set I had used previously (Anton, it might've been TTG I don't recall). I really enjoyed them, they were fairly simple and uncomplicated, and they had really nice Army lists in the back. |

Well read that PDF, those rules fit the bill nicely. I use the full edition rules in my games and like them a lot. |

Well, there are the usual suspects for Renaissance Wargaming… For solo play the Piquet gaming system is mentioned every now and then (eg here: link and the Italian Wars supplement for Furioso have 2-3 pages of solo rules included… link |

Von Schwartz here is a Blog that covers the majority of rules used for what you are after, Olivero suggested Piquet, I have not played those but lots of people like them as well. link Amazon has the 5th edition of TTG Tercios rules listed which I suspect is what you used to play. It is a used set and it is priced fairly high. |

Fricking ridiculous, I paid less than $20 USD new! Of course that was back when we had to wait for the Wells Fargo stagecoach to come into town. |
