I think we have all done it – the shiny new toy syndrome. I know I have and I have done it again but with a twist. One of my favorite Adventuring Companies/Leagues/whatever game you are playing is Lord Greystoke's: better known as Tarzan of the Apes. When I saw the advertisement for the new Giant Ape from Wizkids, I thought to myself, "Self, that would make an excellent addition as a Mangani (Great Ape) for Tarzan's team!" Next time I'll check the dimemsions!

That looks very much like the traditional Kong!

Bashytubits06 Sep 2020 5:45 a.m. PST

You can call the first scenario Kong Quest.

Thanks for all the comments. Though I purchased by mistake it was a pleasure to paint and will fit in nicely with my collection.

That figure is huge. In the D&D campaign I'm playing in my wizard just levelled up and now has the 'Polymorph' spell. I was told that the most effective thing to polymorph into in combat is the Giant Ape and I was looking around for a figure to use. I saw this one on-line and was tempted, but then I saw it in a store and realized that in 28mm scale it really is King Kong sized! I need something a bit smaller :)

Dining Room Battles22 Sep 2020 6:00 p.m. PST

ScottWashburn – When I purchased him I definitely did not check the size. I was expected "larger" apes to go with my Tarzan company. One of the best mistakes I made.

ScottWashburn-The 5e Giant Ape is pretty much that big. It's supposed to represent something like Kong in the game.

ScottWashburn – Nice to see someone else made the exact same mistake!
