… transgender and non-binary characters. Plus other Trek-TV updates

"Discovery, a show that has already pushed Star Trek's representation forward by several lightyears with it's diverse cast of characters, is continuing it's efforts of showing how truly diverse and inclusive Star Trek can be, by introducing the franchise's first regular transgender and non-binary characters.

Continue below for details of these two new characters, plus other updates on the many Star Trek shows currently in production and development…"

What a load of unadulterated garbage.
These topics have been visited in Star Trek decades ago. Of course, nothing that happened in ST before Discovery exists.

Reference – watch ST:TNG The Outcast – Riker falls in love with Soren, a member of the J'naii species who are non-binary. Or TNG The Host where Beverly falls in love with a male trill whose hose's next incarnation is with a woman and the resulting conflicts and emotions. Or ST: Ent Cogenitor – where the crew encounter a race with three sexes, one of whom is basically a slave species with few rights. If I spend at least another ten minutes thinking about it I can probably come up with other examples where disabled, trans and gay storylines were handled without trying to smack the audience with a wokehammer between the eyes.

STD has to trumpet crap that is not even true and bludgeon people with how woke they are when it was all done already twenty or thirty years ago.

This is just more virtue signalling from a doomed franchise that cannot even get enough viewers they have to give their product away to try to hype it up. A franchise with no merchandizing because nobody wants to buy it.

Nothing like woke propaganda.

This is one reason why I do not watch Discovery or even pay for the app to get it.

CBS trying to shove their views to become acceptable but I will not agree.

This whole "for the first time in Star Trek " thing grinds my gears.
Mickey Spock – the first black lead (forgetting Nichols and Brooks who had somewhat important characters in Uhuru and Cisko).

Appealing to the 0.5%, or 1%, while alienating (pun intended) many, many more %.

Brilliant plan there.

If I was producing TV shows, I'd find out who those writers were and not hire them…

I do like the expression 'wokehammer'. I'm going to use it!

And CBS continues its slide into irrelevance.
