I just backed this new Colonial horror skirmish game. It's technically set in Salem and there are pledge levels with new laser-cut buildings of the Salem Meeting House and other kits by Things From The Basement, (I'll be running my games in Sleepy Hollow).

I went for the hard-copy rulebook and cards; there are also options for pdf and app assisted.

whoops, not technically 18th Century, but I run my Sleepy Hollow games in the FIW period…

I've been collecting figures for a witch hunting game for the last couple of years, so I am looking forward to it.

Until I started play-testing this game, I had never really thought about witch-hunting miniatures, but I was able to pull together a set for only about $50. USD

- I had some unpainted F&I Indians (the Old Glory scalping set, some of which will paint up to make good zombie-Wabenaki)

- I had lots of ECW musketeers, and the coats are a little short but the Colonists can be a little behind the times, right?

- I had to buy Milice (I got a set from the Old Glory F&I line)

- I had to buy some good character figures for the Wabenaki: I went with Crucible Crush

- I had some Preacher figures (for ECW) and those work for the protagonists (Crazy Puritain priests with bibles are actually pretty easy to find!)

- I already had wolves and bears, but I needed to buy some plague rats – I got a set from Reaper

- I already had villagers (ECW peasants)

I was pretty happy that I could kit myself out for such a reasonable sum, based on my historical collection.

Now my biggest problem is doing justice to those Crucible Crush Hurons – they are nice figures!

What I really like about the Kickstarter is the buildings – why are Colonial American buildings in 28mm so hard to find? Not anymore!

Cheers,

A. Gregory

For my later colonial undead types in tricornes, I just got a bunch of Eureka's Skeleton Pirates that arrived from Eureka USA today!

Things From the Basement is doing great on American Colonial buildings with more and more additions. They've got the Captain Wm. Smith House and North Bridge for Lexington & Concord. For Dutch Colonial style in the Hudson Valley, a number of kits in the Sleepy Hollow range are historical: the Martling House, the School House, and the Corn Crib; and the Van Allen House from the movie fits in fine.

They also have some new kits coming out soon that I'm looking forward to. This summer they did a Kickstarter for the Farms of Gettysburg. Two of them are just perfect Dutch Colonial style with stonework and double chimneys: The Thompson House and the Slyder House. I've come across several illustrations of very similar buildings up in the Hudson Valley region for colonial times. The KS orders are likely to be filled by the end of this month, then they'll go in the store after that. That's when I'll grab this pair to use in Tarrytown.

For witch hunting on this side of the pond, early colonial, late colonial, FIW, AWI, and 1812 are are good settings. The last (full Monty Python style) witch trial in New York state was in 1815!
