Hi, all. I've been printing up 3D Ancient Greek galleys like nobody's business, as can be seen HERE: link They are in 1:600 scale, which I like for naval battles. Now that the vast bulk of them have been printed and painted, to my normal haphazard standard, I was thinking it would be a fine thing to put them on bases. I am considering running a remote game and I want to color the edges of the bases in bright colors to give the players viewing via ZOOM etc. an easier time making out who is who and what is what. I'm trying to find a manufacturer that could make the following: A base that could work with a trireme model about 60mm long x 20mm wide. Note that there would be some distance around the actual model of course. Same for a larger Quad model 70mm x 25mm and Pentakonter/Liburnian about 50mm x 20mm. Any suggestions? I've been looking in a lot of places online but haven't found the perfect one yet. |

You can always use LITKO's Basemaker. It can even do rounded corners. |

Is the cost of 3D printed bases too much? |

Were those printed with a FDM printer or resin? You would have to paint them, but could you cut the bases out of wood? Or colored matte board? |

Rudy: The cost isn't too much. It's just reallllllly a slow way to get bases. Todd: FDM printer. I do want wood bases for a quick and easy (and cheap) alternative. Walt |

Walt: I could cut you some if your not in a major hurry. |

I used the Editor's Thingiverse base maker to design a base for my ships and then combined it with a textured surface and the ship to print all of it at once. 1/900

Waco Joe, are those last two from the Ancient Navy STL file? That's what I'm printing. |
