I visited Preston link before lockdown and have been eager to visit Warrington for the Battle of Winwick (the site of the Scots' last stand) ever since link

I do apologise, for some reason my second link (which should have been for my Winwick page) was a duplicate link to Preston. Here's the correct link parrskool is absolutely correct, Red Bank is one of the alternative names for the battle, which if my cackhandedness had allowed me to post the correct link, would have been clear. |

Inside Pinnochio's next to Walton Bridge there is a plaque commemorating the battle erected by the Cromwell Association. Originally on the exterior of the building it was 'moved indoors' by an extention! |

Sadly a planning application for warehouses on the disused colliery site, means that the Parliamentarian positions, and Cromwell's views of the battlefield will be lost. The best preserved battlefield of the Second Civil War is about to be despoiled – visit whilst you can still see the uninterrupted views. Correct link to my guide to the battlefield link |
