So with Battlefront announcing that Late War Soviets are coming next month, a friend in my small group has pitched the idea of doing Late War which I've wanted to for a while (we've mostly done Mid-War).

I want to do Germans on the Eastern Front to face against his Soviets but also have the ability to play Late War versus US/British during Normandy. Should I be using the D-Day German book or Fortress Europe, or both? There's overlap between the two but then like Fortress Europe has a few things from Mid War that aren't in Normandy but might be on the Eastern Front (since Ghost Panzers was the prior book and that was Kursk). I seem to recall that Fortress Europe was just a stopgap book until the D-Day books came out, I just want to make sure I'd be using the D-Day book for Eastern Front as well as Normandy. Obviously there would be things in there I wouldn't use but generally speaking, is that the book I want?

Can I mix books? For example, can I take a D-Day Panzergrenadier Company but add a Ferdinand/Elefant from Fortress Europe as Support (I actually think the Panzergrenadier Company in FE is the same though)? The way the books overlap is a bit confusing as to what is allowed and what isn't. Is it easier to just use the D-Day book and that's it?

You can use any list from any book, but BF would make some differences to account for 1. Selling minis, and 2. the historical OOB. Priority however is for number 1.

You can't mix books like you outlined however. It would be easier just to use the FE book more so than the Normandy book as regards historical OOBs that would appear on the Eastern Front.

Until they issue an actual book for that period, go with the closest.

Thanks! So sounds like Fortress Europe is my best bet to be closer to the Eastern Front without taking away too much. And then I can get D-Day afterwards for the additions to represent Normandy for playing against the Brits and US. I am used to 40k so the books being cheaper is great.

There's a Bagration: Soviet – d es anyone know if there will be a Bagration: German?

Yes there will be a German book .

There's already an article up for the 11. SS-Freiwilligen-Panzergrenadierdivision ‘Nordland' link , using the SS D-Day book .

So might be a good idea to get that , as at a guess some eastern front lists might reference that .
