What type of terrain do your 6mm sci-fi armies normally fight in?

* grassland/green
* desert
* Martian desert/red
* lunar craters
etc.

dmebust15 Aug 2020 5:15 p.m. PST

All of the above. Honestly we have a vast array of terrain and tend to change it up to keep things interesting and fresh. Have fun!

All of the above plus urban and forest.

Urban.

Outposts. Very, very rough and inhospitable area – desert (including arctic ones), mountains, jungle, forest, craters, canyons/canals, volcanic, and so on – with a large cluster of buildings/machinery and often one or two smaller clusters. Occasionally a board-spanning logistic element – pipeline, conduit, orbital elevator, train track, etc.

All and any ! Like in the old Stargate series, they'd be on planets of all types and even eras. Weird alien terrain and structures, Ancient, Gothic, etc., etc., … it's a big Universe out there. So I try to reflect it on my table … 🌌

williamb16 Aug 2020 9:07 a.m. PST

all kinds of terrain.

I think your poll is going to need a category for "nothing typical -- we play in many different kinds of terrain"

Valderian16 Aug 2020 1:50 p.m. PST

I agree with Legion 4 and Oberlindes Sol LIC.

And yet, there's a depressing regularity to the "Middle Eastern village that totally isn't Mos Eisley" theme in a lot of 6mm sci-fi gaming. I'm not sure if it's because it's easy to make and can be essentially timeless, but there's a lot of them adobe-looking huts out there on gaming tables.

I'll also add these chaps – dfaminiatures.com – Who have some breathtakingly nice 3d printed terrain and s STL files for sale both and even the (Currently under re-organisation ) Hardware Studios, who have a couple of overlays for using Chessex dice containers as buildings, and also have a few items on Shapeways as "print on demand" – link
