Saw this. Brush on Minwax Polyshades Urethane Stain -- Royal Walnut (aka, The Dip), and it would look pretty decent. Whether it is "Dirt Cheap,", is in the eye of the buyer. Cheers!

Looks a bit to much like a child's toy play-set, for my taste. It is not bad mind you, just to toy-like.

An even better solution is to use one of the spray on rocklike paints before the dip.

I did this for some old Marx rock formations and they went very toylike to some of my favorite terrain pieces

What's the height of the various walls? The pics make it look tiny compare to the figures.
