"Before anyone goes typing "ASB", just hear me out first. There's a reason I put victory in scare quotes in the title. So we all know Japan's position in Asia was basically ed after Pearl Harbor and the attack on the US. We also know such a showdown was close to inevitable after the embargo and other sanctions. And we also know the reason why such a showdown was close to inevitable was thanks to the fact that the Philippines was an American territory at the time, placed inconveniently in the path of where Japan wanted to expand to, and Japan expected America to enter the war on the side of the Allies sooner or later. So why not make American intervention less of a sure thing?…" Main page link Amicalement Armand
