With India being looked to as some sort of balance to China, it is interesting to see what they're doing. link And the latest initiative by the Indians is to ban importing of 101 items including: - artillery, - armoured vehicles - destroyers - submarines - light combat aircraft - light combat helicopters - electronic warfare systems - small arms - air-to-air missiles - MANPADS - satelites - simulators - cruise missiles - protective equipment - grenades - other components
Apparently they can do all this themselves. Given India's inability to produce things reliably and in quantity and even poorer record of developing weapon systems, this will no doubt hinder their declining military capability even more.

Interesting. Sounds like they're shooting themselves in the foot. |

Well nothing on that list…. The devil is clearly in the detail though – fairly standard protectionist prole-feed from a nationalist government, but they seem to have left themselves a very substantial amount of wriggle room in the fine print the proles won't read! |

LOL. BattlerBritain! Probably some ancient, pre-1900, rifle would be my guess, though that may be hard to do without the ball falling out. |

That is one way to encourage a home grown defence industry! India has never been a threat to China, historically, their only real potential enemy is Pakistan. |
