Beautiful to see – and so long ago. I planned my allied for Albuera starting 30 odd years ago and finally got to it in 2018 (1:25 on a 21 foot board), with extensions to width to handle the cavalry stan off on the allied right). The Spanish Guards emulated their historical counterparts, Colbourne kept a sqare on his right flank (since a rolling cavalry melee was going on), 2e Hussards were heroes as always – but the French had to give up, abandoning some hirse artillery pieces, before the 4th Division even engaged. I find it hard to see how the French could have won, frankly – with some good Spanish as well as Brits and (at the end) Portuguese to deal with and no advantage in numbers |
