"I'll be honest. If painting really isn't your thing, and/or you view it as a means to an end, then this wouldn't be applicable to you. However, if you enjoy painting and are always striving to get better at it, then this article is aimed at you…"

This thread just got strange. I'm an ok painter, but just want to get them on the table.

I'm already as good a painter as I want to be.

The secret isn't to get better, it's to be satisfied with what you can achieve.

There is only one 'secret' to getting better and that is practice. Too many people want the 'tricks of the trade' (many of which don't work for everybody) because they can't be bothered with the practice and the time that takes.

Spend less time looking at daft videos and more time painting and you'll steadily improve.

If painting really isn't your thing, and/or you view it as a means to an end, then this wouldn't be applicable to you.

Not for me. Cheers!

I'm 65, my figures are probably an eight. I enjoy painting and do it daily. I finally have a system I really like enjoy and since I'm retired I can take as long as I want to get things done. I don't think I need more advice as this point.

My own suggestion is paint. Just do it. You'll never get better if you don't practice and find what works for you. You'll make mistakes, but that's the great part about painting--you can paint over them.
