Hi Guys,

Forum member Thresher got me interested in the conflict that's taken place in Eastern Ukraine these past half dozen years (thanks for your help Rob), and I thought this might be a smaller collection opportunity for my expanding into modern era gaming, and without too much time or cost commitment (we'll see about that).

I've got some 1/144th scale tanks and APC/IFVs ordered now, but wanted to make sure I could get some infantry units up and running, and without too much time involved with them (so get the boring stuff done first!).

What I've settled on for infantry, are Pegasus Hobbies 1/144th scale Modern American Desert Infantry, which are pre-painted and sold in sets of 10 figures. To make their uniform colors look more appropriate to the the conflict, I stained those areas a little greener on the figures.

So here's these little stands up close (they'll signify squad and weapons teams) – please don't laugh too much at the painting, and with the stands only being around an inch or less in size I think they look ok to the naked eye, and those tiny weapons should be fine for Russian-style stand-ins -

I'm looking to do 3 platoons-worth, and possibly a few differently camouflaged squads for signifying separatist/militia/irregular elements (just for scenario mixing).

Btw, I don't think I'll be painting on the colored sleeve tape used in the Donbas for side recognition, thank you very much. ;)

You're welcome.

Wow, you work fast!

Well done.

Can't wait to see what you do with the vehicles and other stuff as well.

Well, I had this one pack of figs on hand to try out, and will now have to wait for the rest of the stuff to come in thru the world-wide pipeline.

Minifigs infantry shouldn't be overlooked, since their sculpts are nice, and they make decent, very late/post-Cold War infantry for both the Americans and Soviets/Russians.
