Was hoping against hope their 25mm FPW range would resurface………….. I've got a better shot of seeing the Titanic resurface. Should rename this thread; "Frontier Miniatures-A sad ending" |

Likewise, I was hoping for their 15mm Boxer Rebellion line (US Marines in overcoat, Tiralleurs Tonkinois etc). So sad |

The poor fellow over in the UK listened to this finicial blither and re-launched the Garrison figure line. Could not sell enough to make new molds and was then pounded for not making new molds. Russ Dunaway |

A new way to ‘How to make a million dollars in this Hobby'. First start by asking for 50K in Kickstarter. Whoa! I recall many years ago in conversations with J. Caruso that the copyright(s) for this line of figures was so tangled up legally that even Alexander the Great with his sword could not cut thru it…..as so happens with many lines in this great hobby. I couldn't help but notice in the original posting here the author doesn't mention the presence of the original sculpts or what is considered in the casting world ‘production models' (multiple first copies of a master and used to create production molds). Without either of those two items – particularly the original masters – it is near impossible to resurrect any old line of figures. And so many fine lines of figures will never see the light of day in anything like their former glory because of one or both of those situations – copyright legalities or lost masters. Let's just wait 6 more months or so and someone will bring up the questions again about the status of Frontier Figures and we can re-start anew in this topic……. |

Thanks for your comments Master Caster, someone who knows a thing or two about casting and resurrecting a now dormant wargaming range. It's sad the way ranges like this get lost due to neglect, copyright issues and ownership squabbles, a real shame. And I though the way to make a million dollars in this hobby was to start with two million…………….;)……….. |

Good point; "Frontier is back; oh great, I'll take a FPW Infantry Command pack to finish off that unit"……….."Anything else?"…………"Nope, I'm good."…………"Ok, that'll be $2.00 USD"………."Great, several thousand more sales like that and I'll still be in the hole." |

Double G, will you take two? |

Well, as someone once said, the way to make a million on the hobby business is to start with 2 Million! I have found some lines at old-school prices, and the OldGlory15s along with Rank and File have served me well with 19th C. Wars of Europe, especially FPW. True, I bought a bunch at once, but the infantry were 20 cents, and the cavalry 63 cents, I believe. And my Stone Mountain 15mm FFL v. Arabs figs are still very reasonably priced, as seen at the Wargame Miniatures catalogue – lost in a box for 20 years, I rediscovered them and was thrilled to be able to round out the forces, and at quite a reasonable price. There's still plenty of "Old Faithful" lines out there, along with the new stuff, which is also amazing, just different. It's a big hobby, and I guess you have to love it to want to do any business with it. |

Master Caster suggesting waiting six months to see if this manufacturer would ever come back to life? I haven't heard a thing. Anyone else? Did the 'New Beginning' ever begin? Shall we now finally move them into the 'dead dinosaur' category? I did indeed like their figures – too bad they disappeared for so long. Any news please let me know. |

Still no peep after the August 2020 announcement, I think it is safe to say they have packed up their camping gear and left the forest. Since I have my own 3D printing machines and have learned to digitally sculpt I will simply make my own stuff and scale it to go with the ton of Ral Partha figures I own. It is a shame really as I have yearned for Frontier figures since the late 1990s.

It's too bad he didn't shop what ever lines he had intact around – he could at least have found some buyers…. |

Starting a company is easy. Running a company takes time and effort. Making money with a company takes time, effort, patience and luck. Let me emphasize time, effort, patience and luck. Most people underestimate what is needed for success, and overestimate whether what they are offering is actually needed/wanted in the marketplace. |

Bashytubits – absolutely Hilarious with a capital ‘H'. Brigadegames – SPOT ON! in caps. I would add don't fear failure. Failure just tells you don't go that way – find another way. OK,,,,,,,let's reset the 6 months clock about ‘What happened to Frontier Figures'. |
