I'm trying to find some equivalent 20mm, or even 25mm(if they work size-wise) probably metal figures to add to my Beau Geste'ish era French Foreign Legion forces. I've pretty much exhausted the HO plastic scene and am still looking for some Arab spearmen, FFL cavalry and other unusual stuff not done in plastic.

I'd appreciate any input you might have as to sources for the above. Also I found…Band B miniatures, which seems to have some nice figs but there are frustratingly few photos on their site. I refuse to buy figs sight unseen. Anyone know anything about them?

Anyway, thanks in advance for any input. grin

Here are a couple. I like the B&B ones because they include a film crew with actors, and they have the Jones family with Sallah and Brody.

The Jacklex figures have a classic look and are less chunky than the B&B. I know that their British Colonials fit perfectly with the plastics out there, and their Highland officer commands my plastic Highlanders since one was not included in the set.

Thanks PC. I like the Jacklex. Might have to get some. At the B and B site they show few pics of their figs(none of the ones you mention). Any idea where I could go to see some? Google came up empty for me.

Here is some of the film crew. I believe that there is also a director and possibly an actor and actress in Arabian Night Hollywood garb. Haven't found a pic of the archaeologists. The old B&B site pretty much had pics of all of the figures. It is too bad the new one is so lacking.

Thanks for that.

bob, yep got all the Strelets. I like 'em. Hoping to find stuff in metal to augment my plastics.

"Got all the Strelets". I'm jealous!

OK, I see what you did there…so obviously not ALL the Strelets, but all the ones that were of interest to me for that era.

Gotta stay on your toes around here I see.grin

Does anyone know if the 25mm Old Glory figures would fit in ok with the HO plastics? Or would they be too big? I'm not a fanatic, so if they're off by a couple or 3 mm or so it's not a show stopper.

Old Glory 25mm are going to be too big. They have more girth than plastic 1/72s. The weapons are too thick. Instead of 25mm, what about Blue Moon Miniatures 15mm? They are actually 18mm. You can beef-up the base so they would mix in. They make a nice range of French Foreign Legion including Arabs swordsmen and spearmen. They also have a fort. They also make a Darkest Africa, Boxer Rebellion and Colonial ranges. I'm doing a similar FFL and Arabs project with old ESCI FFL and Strelets Arabs. For Arabs with melee weapons I'm using HaT El Cid Almorhavid Infantry.

agplumer… thanks for the word on the Old Glory and Blue Moon figs. I saw some pics of the BM's next to some Airfix and they looked too small IMO.

However, I went to Plastic Soldier Review and took a look at the HaT Almorhavid infantry and I think those will do nicely. Some of the Almorhavid cavalry and the Andalusian infantry can be of use as well. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.thumbs up
