I was wondering if there are figures suitable for the spear and sword armed units deployed by the Shogunate in the early Boshin War? They would be dressed traditionally but unarmoured, mostly low ranking Samurai. Similarly are there any suitable unarmoured figures armed with muskets or matchlocks?
thank you

A very late, necromantic reply from someone embarking on a Boshin War project:

AW Miniatures' Samurai range is not the most realistically-proportioned set of sculpts, and the quality varies between figures, but they do a decently substantial range of unarmoured figures in their Ashigaru range, including archers and musketeers. They're relatively limited in terms of headgear, either low round hats or bareheaded, but it would probably be viable to introduce some variety through head swaps.
