"I love the smell of napalm in the morning" ( Apocalypse Now)

The figure is from the Wargames Illustrated figure series giants in miniature and produced by Northstarfigures.

M16 too big but it smells like victory.

28mm figures always have overscale weapons and other details – it's just part of their appeal to those who like them.

Even if it were possible to produce weapons to scale they would not look right.

This figure captures Colonel Kilgore as portrayed by Robert Duvall very well.

Would be nice to see some other characters from the film.

Definition of 25mm miniatures scale wise:

Head and hands about 1/35, weapons nearly 1/25 in two directions but never in the third at the same time, torso 1/48, legs and arms 1/55 but not always on both sides of the sagittal plane.
Scale of the frontal and sagittal axis differs by about 15% depending on the skills of the caster.

Add between 1mm and 10mm for 28mm/32mm etc. depending on your customer base segmented by age, disposable income, nearsightedness (I admit, they are associated.) and your genre of fiction.
Be it science fiction, hysterical, historical or other fantasy miniatures.
(Allthough nobody would ever dare to admit it, they are more or less the same.)

The cavalry crossed sabres on his hat are way out of scale and the crown on the hat is a bit too high. As it happens, I lived about 50 meters from 1/9th Cavalry, Kilgore's outfit in the movie, for two months in 1969 and saw a lot of these guys. I'm not particularly impressed by the miniature or the paint job.

It's a stylised 'cartoony' figure. There is a better paint job if you follow the link.

If reduced to scale it would be very bland and generic. That is the nature of 'heroic' 28mm figures. If you want more realistic proportions and details 20mm is much better.

I noticed that too, but it is a bit "cartoony", etc., as Skarper mentioned. Which I believe that was the sculptor's intent.

But yes I agree with you Brass, I just saw it as an "other than historically accurate" figure. Like Orks in 40K ! 😁
