"The gun industry has never seen anything like 2020, and the explosion in sales driven by the concerns over rising crime, protests, the coronavirus crisis, and the presidential election are expected to continue. "Bottom line is that there has never been a sustained surge in firearm sales quite like what we are in the midst of," the National Shooting Sports Foundation, an industry trade group, said in a report shared with Secrets…"

Tango's from Argentina, ZULUPAUL, so he probably sees different news. I've managed to do without a gun all these years, but I've started thinking about it this year. In the meantime, my hunting/camping knife has migrated from storage to near my bed. Grelber |

The large scale riots and lack of a adequate response from law enforcement has made some citizens realize how vulnerable they actually are. I'm not surprised that guns sales are high. Next will be an exodus from these problem areas by those that can afford to move. Florida has actually seen large numbers of NYers move to their winter homes early. |

I have not bought or owned a gun since I got out of the army in 1983. Baseball bats do nicely. I think I would go the taser route if I wanted to arm myself. |
Thresher01 | 23 Jul 2020 7:31 p.m. PST |
Yep, you have to be able to defend yourself, since the police will never get there in time, and even if they do, they may be under "stand-down" orders to do nothing but watch events. That just happened in Denver, where a group supporting law enforcement was attacked and driven from the area they were set to lawfully protest in by anarchists and other, anti-police criminals. Many were beaten and stomped on, before they could escape, and they were outnumbered 4:1 by the thugs. Law enforcement did nothing to aid them. |

What gun does the guy with the blue T-shirt hold? link This is what happens when the local police does not respond hard enough. The locals themselves (armed with Baseball Bats and Steel Bars) have to respond to the protesters. I guess they should have sent in government forces. link |

To do list: 1. Get gun permit. 2. Get gun. 3. Get ammunition for gun. |

4 learn to use it well, if not already. Otherwise liability if not more dangerous than without in case of trouble. I hardly know, so refused a gift. Last time army 40 years ago😉 and a few rounds with club pals in Socal. |

" In 2018, 601,984 people purchased a license to hunt deer in Michigan." If they all got together, they would make the 8th largest army in the world. And that is just from one state. I'm not too worried; most Americans are good honest people who are sick and tired of the daily crap from the main steam media. If antifa decides to come to the suburbs after they have burned down and looted their sources of food; they would be in real trouble. |

"I think I would go the taser route if I wanted to arm myself." Tasers are nice, but you have to get a good hit and you only get one shot with the civilian model. |

One gun store owner said he used to sell 2-4 a day, now its 35-40 a day. Some gun stores have sold out. |
Rudysnelson | 24 Jul 2020 7:31 p.m. PST |
Don Jackson, I am hesitant about a taker anyway. About a decade ago, I worked with a county EMA agency which meant we monitored police activity. There was a situation which I will not go into the background. Anyway the police arrived at the preachers compound to detain him as requested by the family. He was violent from the start. The officers taxed him nine times but it did not slow him down as he cut off the hand of one of the deputies. Then the other officers shot and killed him. So I have never been convicted of tasers effectiveness. Bad night to be on duty. |

I have a friend who is a manager of a gun shop, he told me he cannot keep AR-15s and Glocks in stock, has to reorder every 2-3 days and 9mm ammo is difficult to get. I just bought the new Taurus G3C, very nice. |

Sounds nightmarish, glad society hasn't broken down like this over our side of the pond. Society is still functioning in 99+% of America. These riots seem to be isolated to a few big cities for now. Also, some of this is due to it being an election year combined with the daily annoyances of living under a pandemic; seems to be driving people crazy. |
newarch | 26 Jul 2020 2:28 p.m. PST |
@ USAFpilot. I was being a bit facetious, I'm sure most of the U.S. is functioning and getting along just fine, given the circumstances. |
Repiqueone | 27 Jul 2020 7:54 p.m. PST |
I suspect that a closer look will show that multiple guns are going to a minority of the population, rather than more people owning guns. Gallup found that: "Thirty percent of U.S. adults say they personally own a gun, while a larger percentage, 43%, report living in a gun household. Personal gun ownership varies among the major population subgroups Gallup looks at: Republicans (45%), men (43%) and self-identified conservatives (40%) are the most likely key subgroups to say they personally own a gun." So there is a subset that believes you can never own too many guns, though I think that using more than 1 or 2 at a time is challenging, and a vast majority that do not own a gun. The most likely customers are the same people buying one more weapon to assuage their abject fear of the "OTHER." The total number of gun owners (and hunters) in America has been declining for years. The protesters in Portland seem not to be carrying. There have been few, if any "riots", in cities, though that term is used frequently by the people who do have guns and military gear. Fear is easily manufactured among some groups. That's good for guns sales…selling them to the same people as last time. |
COL Scott ret | 28 Jul 2020 8:35 p.m. PST |
Rep perhaps you live in an area without large cities or a local media that only reports one side of the story. Like any real story there are usually three sides (both extremes and the truth in the middle that rarely gets reported). When legitimate peaceful protests, that I fully support and sworn to defend their right to do so, changes to throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails – looting the local businesses and threatening the lives and families of innocent people. It has become a riot. Where I live in the midwest my state and all the surrounding states have had several days of riots – mostly calm now. Now if there are people who think that the average 10 minute police response time is not fast enough, and they elect to use their second amendment right – that is why it is there. |

I heard heard background check rejections are up too, consistent with a higher share of first time buyers. By your second or third gun those cases of mistaken identity or ancient warrants are sorted out. |
