What are the major differences between "Frankish Spearmen" and "Gallo-Roman Spearmen"? I'm looking at the Field of Glory Army book but I imagine this is an distinction in many rules. My basic understanding is that the Gallo-Romans were equipped closer to Late Imperial Romans? How were these two groups equipped and how did they fight? |

This chap – picture – is a drawing taken from a piece of Alamannic silver, and is sometimes thought to represent a Gallo-Roman. Might always be just an unrealistic piece of classicising art, of course. |

Language. The Gallo Romans would speak Vulgate Latin, the Franks Frankish. |
