You were asked – TMP link

On a scale of 1 (I don't speak Latin) to 10 (I'm a native speaker), how well do you speak Latin?

The average result was 2.17

My Hittite is worse.

Latin as in Amo, Amas, Amat? I remember bits of it from HS, had four years of it. I could probably manage a sentence or two.

Dammit! I've got a DEGREE in Latin and it's so long since I last used it (other than to translate Medieval Latin for a choir)

So, Zero isn't an option, eh?

That'd be my rating.

I recall a friend taking Latin, back in the day, and wondered at that time, whatever for. He was an ancients gamer though, so perhaps that provided some utility for him.

Yes, the current school system is sad – but my degree course and department disappeared as well.

Anyone remember this mnemonic for Latin prepositions? -

Caesar had jam for tea
Brutus had a rat

so

Caesar ad iam forte
Brutus ad erat
