I stumbled on this in Google Books:

O-umajirushi: A 17th-Century Compendium of Samurai Heraldry
books.google.ca/books?id=0BCzCAAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover&hl=fr&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false

It's a great source for heraldry of the samurai clans.

In order to download the pdf, first click on the gear symbol in the top right side of the window and select the "download pdf" option. Once the first page bearing Google's logo is displayed, click on the download icon (arrow pointing down at a line underneath) in the top black bar (3rd icon from the right). You don't see the black bar? Just move your mouse over the pdf document… It should show up.

Your lack of trust is… nevermind.

That is what Google says, but I donīt see the autor's declaration.

So Google will stand the chance to distribute without proper permission putting at risk their project… and credibility? Dude, be realistic. They share because they are allowed to. Browse Google Books to see what happens with some other books that have only restricted access.

The author made it available on a pay-what-you-want basis a few years ago.

Heyas, as the author I just wanted to clarify that I uploaded it to Google Books for free as a way to make the PDF more widely available. As was mentioned, I also make it available PWYW on o-umajirushi.xavid.us/, including for $0. USD People should feel free to chip in via the website if they find my book useful; I otherwise don't make any money off of the PDF, but I care more about making this widely available than making money off of it.
