Well thank you.

You know I've heard that Thanksgiving is celebrated in England as well as America. That's when the English knew the colonists weren't coming back.

Thank you and thank you GB for the rule of law, literature (I'm talking Hornblower, etc.) and a common language (George Bernard Shaw), whatever some of those colloquial expressions mean.

I've been to Great Britain 5 times and have many good friends there. Wonderful country and great people. I'm glad we made up and became true brothers.

I've always wanted to visit the UK – the Fates
have conspired against lo these 79 years..

One g'parent's (maternal g'father) ancestor was born
there, in Cornwall.

Lived in England for 4 years on the military's bill in late 70s, if anything didn't see enough of the country.

Thank you. Amexit has worked out well for us. But Big Red is right: we owe a great deal to our cousins across the Pond, and I've always enjoyed my visits. I'm not likely to make it to Chawton Cottage or the Battle of Britain Bunker--the two big things I missed--but it's not beyond hope.

And right now, I think you're well out of US politics.

Thanks, we're all cousins, just separated by a common language. grin

Happy 4th of July from Canada. I miss being able to cross the longest undefended border in the world.

KevinV, if we rejoined the empire, would we become part of Canada?

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP04 Jul 2020 10:05 a.m. PST

nnascati, the Canadians have immigration laws designed to prevent that sort of thing happening to them.

Ed Mohrmann Supporting Member of TMP04 Jul 2020 11:55 a.m. PST

Robert P., THANKS ! I've needed a good laugh for 2-3
weeks !

Thresher0104 Jul 2020 12:20 p.m. PST

Thank you.

We love all our UK, Canadian, Australian, and New Zealand cousins.

May we always remain good allies instead of foes.

many thanks herky.

USAFpilot04 Jul 2020 1:55 p.m. PST

Thank you. We were fortunate in the quality Englishmen who were our founding fathers.

KevinV04 Jul 2020 2:46 p.m. PST

Sorry nnascati, I was outside tending my hobby garden. I planted some cabbage!
I hate to say there is no more empire- we have a Commonwealth and according to wiki, a commonwealth is a political community founded for the common good. We already have USMCA, so are kind of already together. :)

Enjoy your day, good luck with the future. I really cannot imagine a world with a United Sates of America.

We once again are experiencing taxation without proper representation, IMO.

Nnascati, I've seen it's actually rather popular around here to have shirts with the opposite statement in effect.

Don't believe everything the media tells you.
