Has anyone ever used these figures and, above all, chariots? Are they compatible with Xyston and BlueMoon Celts/Gauls? link |

These Stonewall figures are thinner than the two manufacturers you asked about . I would not base them with the other figures. |

Wow I love the thought they put into their figure poses! Very much liked those slingers. |

They are huge – the ex Captain Games range, so are similar in height to Xyston and Blue Moon I have mixed them with Xyston (see below), but they may well be a bit slimmer than Blue Moon.

Are they allowed to sell the old Capitan range? Wasn't there some hubbub about this before? |

Yeah, I sort of just checked it out. I cant follow it except that the sculptor seems to think the Copyright Law ALWAYS leaves ownership in the author. Although this is true as an off the rack rule, that can be severed via contract, the "Work for Hire" exception. There is also an exception for derivative works. I mention this because it seems these figures are not made from master molds? I dont quite understand the whole story and it seems like the sculptor thinks a default judgment in a foreign court is proof of veracity. As a start, I think it would be more interesting to see if anyone has ordered these lately and see if in fact the castings are sub par. |

You could always write and ask for a sample to help determine casting quality. |

@wmyers Yes, that's a good idea. |

If you order miniatures from Stonewall you will buy pirate figures and very poorly reproduced. Stonewall do not have permission to reproduce the Fantassin miniatures. In this same forum you will find opinions about the unfortunate state of the reproductions. Yesterday the conclusion hearing was held in the courts and soon there will be a sentence. In any case, under no circumstances Stonewall can reproduce these thumbnails since it does not have the author's permission. TMP link |

Thank you the reminder link. What country did you go to court in? |
Xan Miniatures | 11 Jul 2020 12:53 p.m. PST |
In Spain. The companies Warmodelling SL and Capitan miniatures SL do not have the power to transfer the rights of my figures to third parties by contract. The two companies are closed and I have terminated the contract (Obtained under duress and persecution). I have sent to Bill the owner of TMP supporting documentation. If you search this same forum you will find 1.000 complaints about the state in which Stonewall delivers the minis, if it delivers them. Later I will go to avoid the piracy of Stonewall through the associations of plastic authors VEGAP from Spain and its sister association in UK DASC, which persecute pirates who operate in both countries. |

Now I'm going to start releasing all those upgraded miniatures. Piracy is a scourge for creation, it prevents companies that act under the ethics of good practices from progressing. Do not collaborate with pirates for the good of the hobby. |

So the 15mm ancients are also your sculpts? I found your website (xanminiatures.com), but it only lists WW2 and Napoleonics. Are you going to release more 15mm ancients? |
Xan Miniatures | 11 Jul 2020 2:13 p.m. PST |
Yes, the ancients are in study, before finish the naps and severals WW2 minis. |

Minipigs, I actually have a bunch of the chariots from Warmodelling. I measured them today and they are not true 15s. They are about 17.5 mm to the eye from the bottom of the foot. I also have 15mm Corvus Belli Celts and the horses match to the withers but the Warmodelling horses are holding their heads higher – kind of like they are "straining at the bit" and pulling excitedly; which works. The chariot wheels are close in size, too. The chariot proper is about the same size but just flat surfaces on the Warmodelling one while the Corvus Belli ones have the overlapping wicker design. The base of the chariot is also plain. Nothing wrong with that at this scale, I guess. Now, of course if the Stonewall ones are copies, you'd likely lose detail. Hope this helps. Sorry about not being able to compare them to Blue Moon or Xyston. I don't have a lot of different 15mm ancients. The Blue Moon 15mm Celts look very good! Sadly no chariots. |
