I recently completed a second British infantry section. Please visit ColCampbell's Barracks to see them and the others that I had done earlier. link
Thanks for looking, Jim |

Nicely done. I assume early war in NW Europe British (Gas masks, helmet pattern, Mk III Lee Enfield, sword bayonet) and Germans using an MG34, not an MG42. Shame is they they will see little action, other than commando raids (the pale webbing made me think of St Nazaire) or Dieppe, once evacuated from France and Norway. |

deadhead, were gasmasks/pouches standard kit for Commando raids? Thanks. |

Gasmask cases (indeed even helmets in many cases) sounds very unlikely. Ammo pouches undoubtedly worn for St Nazaire raid and all webbing whitened for recognition aid. Canadians, as opposed to commandos, for Dieppe…..don't know….must check. The point of course is that I think British/Commonwealth forces, in this rig as above, saw no action in NW Europe after evacuation from France in 1940. Other than the raids described. |

I agree with you. I was just hoping I could use my Early War Miniatures British as Commandos. Thanks for you're response. |

You led me to the National Army Museum site to learn more about the commandos, but I was so disappointed by what I found. It is riddled with factual errors, misspellings and grammatical howlers. Shameful. Hard to see a gas mask pouch, in NW Europe, after Dunkirk (plus the many other evacuations from France that we all forget) frankly. But heck, your Early War British would look just fine as early day commandos. Bet no one would notice! |

Yes, they are early war, but I'm not a fanatic about that and will use them as late war even though some of the kit is incorrect. Jim |
