Now that we have the news that Russia is paying the Taliban bounties to kill American troops in Afghanistan, how could we reflect this in a gaming environment? Would it be an idea to roll for bounties, and give Taliban forces a bonus to morale or motivation if the bounties are available for that game? Do we think maybe bounty money could translate to better equipment for the Taliban forces in campaign games? In games set post June 2020, should American troops have reduced morale or motivation from knowing ? |

You might include a Russian observer or two with Taliban forces. Some special forces type officers. |

I dont really see the bounties (I'm assuming there were bounties) having any meaningful impact on day to day operations. As such, they aren't worth trying to factor in. The Taliban have been fighting for years. They must have some pretty compelling reasons for what they've chosen to do. I can almost imagine them being insulted by a bounty offer. At the very least, itd be like offering a Priest a kickback on sacramental wine. I have to imagine the national government in Kabul as been offering bounties on Taliban leaders. That hasn't seemed to stiffen the resolve of the national army. I cant see anything distracting US personnel from their focus on mission and unit wellbeing. I've never served, but I surmise that if information began filtering down that some or another link in the chain of command was populated by someone with questionable motives or who had suffered a severe attack of the stupids, it would not come as an enormous surprise. Some heads would shake, some eyes would roll, then back to the business at hand. MAYBE reenlistment stats might suffer in the long run, but that's super speculative. Bounties, shmounties. I wouldn't bother. |

Give the Taliban player a nickel for each kill. See if it makes him feel any better. |

It would probably only have any effect if a campaign was being played. The Taliban player could go after a target and get the "bounty" which would procure more arms, better arms, more forces, etc. The same would go for US troops, a campaign event, neither would be anything on the table. |

I believe that this particular story was fake news. |

I'd have to think any Russians in theater are going to limit their contacts to top tier Taliban leadership types. They're not going to be visiting every village to peddle their pitch. If paid, any money would go to the local big man, and he'd be more likely to use it to grease palms than buy arms. |

I'd simply give more victory points for killing US and UK troops than locals. So the US grunt is worth 2VP while a local Afghan is worth 1. It has been confirmed the bounty extended beyond US to other Western nationalities – the UK at least. |

Offer the Taliban a US Green Card for him and his family, $1 USDM cash (no taxes), and a 7-11 franchise for 5x Russian Special Ops heads. No one in the administration or military should have commented on it, to begin with. Wolfhag |
