Just saw this on the Perry's FaceBook page, at this link:

Personally I'm not a big fan of the multi-part hard plastic figures, as I prefer the heft of metals, but these look really good to me, and of course will me much less expensive than their metal cousins -- plus there's all the potential uses for spare Tribesman heads, body parts, firearms and bladed weapons, or which there are multiple varieties of both. Boon times for us c.19th Century Afghan/NWF gamers.

Be glad when they come out ! Have the Wargames Atlantic set and they seem to mix ok with Perry mahdists. I used a couple of Perry arms on WA figs. I see some very useful conversions for variety grin

I brought a test sprue of the wargames Atlantic ones and wasn't impressed, if I'm honest, these look much nicer.

I agree with Price Rupert, I found the Wargames Atlantic sprues lacking in variety. The torsos seem ok for the sword and shield types (though the lack of hands seems worrying!), but for the firearm troops, only the kneeling figure seems ok to me.
The torso that seems to be shuffling forward I tried to make a walking with Jezail figure, but there was no empty handed arm! – so he has a sword in his right arm.

I am sooo looking forward to the Perry box too!

Will this thread be deleted ? An advert before the figures are available ? Watch this space !!

I guess it depends on weather Perry miniatures are a TMP advertiser or not?

and a quick look on the TMP advertiser's list shows that, yes they do pay Bill to advertise on TMP, so there is no problem highlighting their new products here.

rEALLY LOOKIGN FORWARD TO THESE, i HAVE THE wARGAMES aTLANTIC ONES AND THEY ARE ok BUT WONT BE PATCH ON pERRY'S. i WILL ALSO BE CONVERTING A FEW BY GIVING THEM sIKH HEADS TO BE sIKH IRREGULARS FOR sIKH wARS.

@Dagwood:

Your comment could well have been pure comedy, which is all good with me, but even if it wasn't, please know that I take no offense and am not trying to cause any sort of trouble. But if it wasn't pure humor, I just want to better understand it, so I would appreciate a bit more info. Wouldn't what you describe only be a potential issue if the Original Poster -- me -- was an owner or employee of Perry Miniatures? I'm just a hobbyist consumer who spends money on their products and thought it would be helpful for fellow hobbyists who happen to share my area of interest to learn about this new item which is about to hit the market. Are you saying the new TMP rules prevent a member of this site from posting about a company's hobby product in advance of it being available for sale, and/or if said company is not a TMP advertiser? Are either of those really the case? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this.

Those are fantastic looking Afghans. Thanks for posting the pics on here.

These look sharp, and the pics show figures not overpainted or underpainted – but just about right!

@ Mad Guru. I'm probably not the best person to answer, but I thought that the position was that the forum was not to be used for unreleased items regardless of whether or not the manufacturer was an advertiser. It should be left to the News board. BUT I am not in charge here. I could well be wrong. I usually am (or so my wife tells me. Repeatedly)

But see the thread "A dose of Reality II" …

The figures look good and I will probably be getting some when I get the chance. Thanks for posting.

These definitely look good and I''l probably buy a few boxes.
Already have the Wargames Atlantic ones and contrary to some of the opinions here I find then quite good an very useful for conversions as well.
After all a dozen different, and may I add well sculpted heads for every five figures, is value for money in my book.

Some of the poses CAN come out a little wooden but I suppose that's true for almost any plastic multi-pose figures. Angling a head slightly or shaving a small portion of an arm can make a world of difference.
