What is interesting is that most of the posters keeping this going are not Supporting Members and almost all are from one country.

Some of the comments on the TFL forum suggest this is an effort to drive British companies and gamers off TMP.

One person on their forum even brought up the current US president. So somehow, if you don't like him, TMP must die. Because we're based in the USA, I guess.

The POTUS is a TMP member ?!?!? huh?

RittervonBek28 Jun 2020 8:35 a.m. PST

I'm British. I have no intention of leaving because of the "carry on" of recent events.

gisbygeo28 Jun 2020 8:44 a.m. PST

@tony s – Defcon 4 is one level up from the lowest state of readiness. Everybody goes straight there.

Defcon 1 is the next step to nuclear war. That's where they shouldn't go

I know it has nothing to do with the topic, but it drives me crazy, and I'm 'that guy'

Tony S28 Jun 2020 8:50 a.m. PST

Ugh! You're right, and I admit I always get that backwards. Totally get where your coming from!

Basha Felika28 Jun 2020 9:15 a.m. PST

Why do some members here try to sew divisions between us Brits and the Americans, when we're all just gamers, surely?

Doing so just plays right into the hands of those that claim there's a divisive and bullying culture here, that's seen Brits banned and driven out in the past.

I called out Bede 19002 for his silly comments on another thread about
"Stupid English humor" (I'll not pass comment on the spelling after 244 years) and "Obnoxious English attitude", and now Stone Mountain seems to be doing the same here?

I do try not to judge people by their race, creed or colour, just on whether they are t#&ts (expletive of choice) or not, but if we're not wanted here, just say so – we got the message back in ‘76!

The Tin Dictator28 Jun 2020 1:34 p.m. PST

we got the message back in ‘76!

Well, to be fair, we sent the message in 1776.
But it still took a couple of argument-filled years for the Brits to leave.

So, if this current childishness is going to follow that paradigm we're in for a long tantrum-filled tempest in the proverbial teapot.

I've no idea why they are thinking about such thing. US and UK are two of most largest market. Let UK companies to quit TMP? Excuse me?

We are very grateful to our British advertisers who have stood up to this effort at intimidation.

When the gaming shows return, I hope they will prevent bullies from going around to pressure the gaming companies.

True, but we came back and burnt down the White House in 1814!

And ate the Prez's supper he had run away and left, first.

Now, I'm no fan of TFL products, in fact I find the ‘nudge nudge wink wink' school-boy humour, of their rules titles childish at best, and sometimes insulting. They are not helped by the football terrace, ‘ere we go, ere we go' attitude of some of their supporters. BUT, and it's a big BUT, They've asked their fans to stop with all the offensive messaging, you've encouraged it here, from your own TMP base, by not shutting down any of the same messaging going the other way. You've constantly deleted replies, so it's a weird echo-chamber of nonsense, hence people asking what's going on? So much. You've fostered a ring-wing base on here, and not shut down, or censored people saying, ‘turn the Middle East into glass' or ‘if any BLM ‘mobs' come near me, I'll shoot them' it is a very toxic place at times, with ‘yeah, ‘Murica' from the top down. You've exaggerated, and totally fabricated certain facts, ghost written pleading letters from your staff, tactically edited, or removed, certain posts, all to make you look like the victim, as you've done for years, you've played the race card, the religion card, hidden behind fabricated moral high grounds that don't exist, and then failed completely, again, to accept, or apologise for any escalation in your part. TFLs Richard Clark was originally asking for a clarification on your ever-shifting rules, and then took it too far, but you've gone way beyond that, as you often do, all under the ‘poor me, poor me, but my staff' victim banner.
I fully expect to have this message deleted, or my account locked, but really don't care, I just wanted to air a view.

…you've encouraged it here, from your own TMP base, by not shutting down any of the same messaging going the other way.

Could you give me a link? I'm not aware of any TMP fan being disrespectful to TFL.

Isn't your bias showing? Aren't you the one making things up?

You've exaggerated, and totally fabricated certain facts…

You call me a liar, but you have no specifics? There's no way to defend myself from such an attack.

…ghost written pleading letters from your staff…

Editor Gwen has already refuted this silly rumor.

…you've played the race card…

I think that those mocking Editor Gwen for her supposed lack of English skills are exhibiting some racism.

…the religion card…

Screenshots don't lie. If you don't like TMP, that's fine, but bringing my religion into it is bigotry.

…hidden behind fabricated moral high grounds that don't exist…

Whatever that means.

…and then failed completely, again, to accept, or apologise for any escalation in your part.

What escalation? TFL was trying to put TMP out of business, not the other way around.

TFLs Richard Clark was originally asking for a clarification on your ever-shifting rules…

The rules have not shifted. Richard Clarke knew what the rules are, because he was in the discussions when the rules were first implemented.

…but you've gone way beyond that, as you often do, all under the ‘poor me, poor me, but my staff' victim banner.
I fully expect to have this message deleted, or my account locked, but really don't care, I just wanted to air a view.

Your view seems to be that if TMP speaks up in defense of our staff, that somehow this is an escalation. Isn't it time that people in this hobby stood up against the toxic few who post these homophobic, racist, anti-religion and personal attacks?

By John 5406 Jul 2020 7:02 a.m. PST

‘ Isn't it time that people in this hobby stood up against the toxic few who post these homophobic, racist, anti-religion and personal attacks?'

Yes, and TMP history shows you need to start enforcing this on your own site. And stop removing people's posts if they don't agree with you.

One has to be careful. There is a clear distinction between asking an honest question (not an attack veiled as one) and making a statement.

However, today, it seems like you may not even be able to ask certain questions:

These same questions were asked on here.

Bill is cognizant enough to understand the difference between baiting and asking and honest enough to not bow to one or two melting individuals who don't understand the questions or have as their agendas the questions not be asked in the first place.

A comment which violated forum rules has been removed, and follow-on comments.

Maybe you should hit the Complaint Button so we have some idea what you are talking about? grin

Ok, here, just from about 30seconds looking, this bigoted cesspool, a thread YOU started;
TMP link

‘ It's not beyond me. Europe is a house of decadence that will in time be sorted out by the Russians or their (i.e., Europe's) Muslim population that they've gone so far out of their way to foster.

Some of these posts only reinforce my belief'

charming.

And as to hitting the complain button, I have in the past, only to receive a message that your very busy, but will get to it, and nothing happens. Not too busy to post, and tactically delete other peoples posts, by the dozen, I see.

By John 5406 Jul 2020 1:32 p.m. PST

‘A comment which violated forum rules has been removed, and follow-on comments'

Bill, Why do you remove the ‘follow on' comments? They said nothing against community rules, just that they disagreed with you?

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian06 Jul 2020 3:30 p.m. PST

Why do you remove the ‘follow on' comments?

Because they make no sense when the original comment is removed, they are out of context.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian06 Jul 2020 3:33 p.m. PST

…only to receive a message that your very busy, but will get to it…

Nonsense. Neither Editor Gwen nor I ever send "we're too busy" responses to forum complaints.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian06 Jul 2020 3:35 p.m. PST

charming.

If you cannot tolerate viewpoints which contradict your own, then perhaps you should avoid those subjects.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP07 Jul 2020 7:20 a.m. PST

True, but we came back and burnt down the White House in 1814!
If you look on the daily news feeds it seems some would like that to happen today. huh? And they ain't even Redcoats !!! evil grin

But more OT, as I have said this before. And take into account Bill & I have had our differences. But no one forces anyone to come, post, read, join, etc., TMP. AFAIK at least … huh?

E.g. If I want a hot dog I don't go to a pizza place … I go some place that has what I am looking for.
