Has anyone purchased these figures for the Franco-Prussian war, or played the rules? The website has some beautiful illustrations and the figures appear to have a lot of detail. I see the rules are skirmish level but not sure how many figures to a unit. Any opinions or thoughts on these? thanks! |

I use EoE miniatures for other rulesets with multibasing. (maybe i am the only one, who is playing Grand Tactical with 28mm?) So i cant say anything about the rules, because i am not interested in skirmish rules. (AFAIK they are mass skirmish, i.e. your units are a section of 12 men acting together.) I like the miniatures. They are big 28mm in a realistic style. But they will mix with the heroic style miniatures from North Star or Great War miniatures. They will not mix with the old Foundry range (25mm) for the FPW. I, like others, have the complaint, that the infantry models (except the new Zouave) have no bayonets attached. The models are very animated. That is good for a skirmish game. I like that for multibases too, because you can have much dynamic on each element. I had some problems with my order to Germany (my fault) and Soren handled everything in my interest. It took an eternity, but that was the postal service not being able to handle the Corona situation. |

Well, the bayonets are available separately in the special packs with the bayoneting figure sets ( 1 French one Prussian). 14 in each pack. And believe it or not, that is perhaps my only gripe with these really well sculpted figures. First of all in you want a sizeable army you'll end up with umpteen of those bayoneting figure sets, which frankly can't be used at all in a unit. You can imagine hat attaching the miniscule bayonets to the rifles is a painstaking job and the longevity of those bayonets on a gaming table is measured in mere minutes. Simply can't imagine why they simply didn't produce them with cast-on bayonets. |

I just received my order from the Eagles of Empire Website, they SHIP FAST! Took only 7 business days to receive from the UK to USA. I ordered 2 boxes of French Line, 1 of Bavarians, and 1 of Prussian line. They are very detailed, are in good proportion, and have realistic life like poses. Moreover, they are easy to paint and paint up fast! The rules are fun, short, sweet and to the point with a ton of originality. Each box comes with Unit and Doctrine cards making it IMHO the "Warhammer of Franco Prussian rules and miniatures" due to its originality and ground breaking ideas. The rule book is a beautiful color pdf. The miniatures are so much fun to paint I finished 36 French Line in one weekend! I also wrote a scenario for Mars La Tour and emailed it to Soren the owner of EoE so he can add it to the Spicheren scenario that comes with the rules. |
