Rather than continually saying "Haythornthwaite – nice but seriously flawed" I put together, earlier in the year, a blog post documenting online sources of information for wargamers. Aimed at someone starting out, and also hopefully those looking for something more in depth there are links to a number of online sources (including links to a few of my own posts on coat colours, flags, cloth colours etc) there are also links to printed materials too. For some reason I don't think I 'plugged' the post here, but as I have added a few things to the post this morning I thought I'd share the post link |

Interesting. Is there a move to rebrand it as the British Civil War? BTW your blog doesn't work on an iPad which is a shame since I am often directed to it – but I can't see anything |

British Civil Wars is probably much more accurate a term. English Civil War only really works for the First Civil War. Great Civil War could be anywhere. Wars of the Three Kingdoms sounds a bit too Tolkeinesque. I've had it said before about iPads – can't suggest anything I'm afraid. It's mostly written on an iPad. Considerable viewing figures for iPad users too. It's just standard Blogger, nothing extra or fancy. |

I understand Android and Windows better, less familiar with Apple stuff. I have a feeling if you clear the caches in Safari that might help, turn to airplane mode leave for a few minutes, then turn connectivity back on. Tends to sort out problems. |

I suppose the term British is misleading, the Act of Union didn't happen until the start of the 18th century. There is the term British Isles referring to Great Britain and Ireland, but this isn't widely accepted, especially in Ireland. All things considered the War of the Three Kingdoms is probably your best bet, English Civil War doesn't cover all the action, and is probably a holdover from when the term English was used (wrongly) as a synonym for the the UK. |

Teppsta, looking back you are the only person who has ever commented (several times) that you can't see my blog on your iPad. Whilst Blogger does admit that it is never going to work on 100% of mobile devices (which seems understandable considering the vast number of variables), it is optimised for the majority of mobile devices. As i can see it on the iPad that i reluctantly use, I can only assume that it is something at your end. I've run a diagnostic tool and the only real issue flagged is that the adsense widget is a bit slow to load. The tool tells me that it works with Safari, the various incarnations of Android browsers, and desktop/laptop browsers. As I'm not au fait with Apple stuff, nor particularly have a wish to be, apart from my suggestion for clearing out the caches in Safari, perhaps Major B is right? Try a different browser – Chrome should do the trick, as will the new version of Edge (both available for ios) After all this, if you do manage to get everything working so you can view my blog – I do hope you aren't disappointed when you finally get to read my nonsensical ramblings. Good luck! |

I find "Wars of the Three Kingdoms" a really annoying term; ever since I first came across it in a title and thought the book would be a military study of the real Three Kingdoms – which would have been far more interesting. Why not pick a title that someone else hasn't already been using for 1500 years? |

KYPD - No idea! I look at quite a number of blogs, many on blogger, and have no issues. It seems very specific to your site. I'll just have to go and use my PC when I want to see it ! Thanks for taking the time to reply |
