I realize the Mark VI tanks used in the Western Desert were usually repainted in the caunter scheme. What color were they when they came from the factory, for use in France in 1940? What color does that work out to be if I use Vallejo paints? Did they have any national markings, like the white star on late war US tanks?

Hi Grelber

A good starting point is here:

Sorry but it's probably too much information. You'll have to work out your own conversions to Vallejo.

I do my 1940 Vickers in the same scheme as the Matildas above. Mid green with v. dark green disruptive. The cruisers get the lighter green.

Many thanks for all the information. I have only one tank to paint, and wanted to make it as near fresh from the factory as possible. Whirlwind, I'm kicking myself for not checking the Flames of War stuff I have on hand or could have found on the internet. Don Manser, that is a great photo of a Mark VI, did you take it?

It's the one from Bovvy and is a stock photo I think. Beautifully restored and in working condition I believe, though the Khaki Green is a bit too green.
