Crossword pioneer Margaret Petherbridge Farrar once wrote: "You can't think of your troubles while solving a crossword." Similarly, do you find miniature wargaming a distraction from the cares of life? |

Absolutely! When I was being treated for Anxiety/ Depression some years ago, my Psychologist recommended I throw myself into Wargaming for my mental wellbeing. I have been more than happy to continue taking his advice even after being 'healed' by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy!!! |

Sometimes. Other times miniature wargaming IS the care of life. Convention prep. Armies and terrain not ready for battle or not done to an acceptable standard. Storage problems, and surely they have to be around here SOMEWHERE? If you're determined to be unhappy, wargaming won't stop you. |

100% distraction from real life. |

If you're determined to be unhappy, wargaming won't stop you. True that. Wargaming isn't really a distraction for me any more than anything else is. Once recently when I had a mental block about a work project, I worked on my taxes all afternoon instead. Then I ate dinner and talked with my wife and watched tv and washed dishes and went to sleep. The next day, I turned back to the work project, all motivated and even fired up, and I got it done on time. Were my taxes a distraction? I guess so. Glad I did all of that work on them, too, but it didn't feel like work. |

Isn't that the purpose of all hobbies? |

Absolutely, Prince Rupert! If wargaming didn't provide a welcome distraction from life's cares, I wouldn't do it! Working on rules, scenarios &c. has helped me endure lockdown a great deal. |

Wargaming, like other hobbies is somewhat of a distraction from other things. Not always. And sometimes my wargaming is related to the cares of daily life. |

My wargaming is fine; it's my job and family who distract me a lot from painting miniatures and playing games… |

I'm very glad I have a hobby that I can get very involved in … Especially in during the Great COVID War of 2020 !!! |

Yes, very much so. I don't get much chance to actually game currently, not many historical gamers here in the vast wargamers desert known as north central Florida. But….the painting, the research, and yes, being able to discuss, share experiences, and even argue with all of you is the best distraction for an old fart like me and I am thankful for it! |
