This model is a 3D print that I have finally finished after a considerable time. It measures about 400mm square and so has been permanantly fixed on to a 2x3' terrain board. The roofs come off to allow access. Those in the know will see a wall around the rear that is not present in the real building complex, but I wanted a clear border at the back.

The hedgerows are not fixed to the terrain board. I was in 2 minds which way to go, to fix or not to fix, but went for the latter option.

The painting of the building was done in my usual way, using emulsion paints. The walls had 4 coats of steadily lighter colours, the roofs had 3.

Thanks for looking.
Cheers

I wish I could but unfortunately my license is "for personal use" only. I have enough different files from WOW though to keep me very busy!!

Thanks all for your kind comments

That is a stunning piece of work. Do you perhaps have a tutorial somewhere for how you do the terrain and also paint the building and walls?

Inspiring work.

"WOW" buildings indeed… I had not come across them before but I am handing over some hard earned now. Just trying to decide…. So many nice shiny things…

Fred

I haven't done a tutorial but it is quite simple really. As I say I use emulsion paints for the bulk of the work.
As a base coat I spray the building(s) black with cheap £1.00 GBP cans of matt black spray paint. The first coat on the walls is a heavy drybrush of a chocoalte colour. Next is Khaki Mist, brushed on slightly lighter. The 3rd coat is a mix of Khaki Mist and Nutmeg, or Magnolia. A final coat is of the Nutmeg or Magnolia with a hint of Khaki Mist. Each coat is brushed on in a slightly lighter way. The roofs are the black undercoat followed by a very dark grey, then a medium dark grey and then a highlight of a light blue.I then brush a very thin wash of black ink over the tiles in certain areas and finally another highlight of the light blue to break up the colour of the tiles. Window frames are painted in Magnolia, I never use white. All the arty bits are then done using Vallejo paints.

Attached are a some images of the paints I use, don't know if they will be clear enough to be of use.

As you can see that by using emulsions, which can be bought in a larger quantity than model paints, I use old coffee jars to mix various shades of colours. These are kept and used over a number of buildings because a little emulsion goes a long way!! Plus it allows time and quantity of paint to experiment and find shades that I like and work well together

Hope this is of help

Cheers
Graham
