I probably won't buy it but I will look it over once it comes out (some one will buy it). If we actually play it, I will reconsider. |

I think you're pretty much spot on. 40k is very much a lifestyle game; it's expected that you invest a significant amount of time and money into that single game. People who do so usually want to continue investing in it, but don't want it to change so much as to become unfamiliar. This leads to consistent new releases and updates to the game without really changing the game itself. GW can repackage and sell the same game to the same people pretty much indefinitely, so there's no real need to make any major changes. If it ain't broke… |

You won't have to "buy it". The 9th ed rules will be free. |

I stopped being concerned about 40K rules and models decades ago. But obviously they certainly have a strong "following". I'm just not one of them … They are making $$$$ … that literally is the "bottom line" … |

But you do follow them, just in 6mm from other manufacturers. The races, models and fluff are the same. |

Yes and no … I've got a lot of 6mm figures from other model companies especially aliens, that have nothing to do with GW fluff/lore. I may have said this before we liberally cherry pick both rules & fluff from the 4 GW Epic iterations. Along with adding from other game companies' rules, etc. I have also said much of GW's models are way over the top for me. Especially in the past decade or so. Of course they don't do Epic and have not for decades. The new AT and AI are not Epic … they are AT & AI … So yes … very, very, very, rarely do I get anything from GW. Save for a few washes and paints. I prefer Vallejo, Modelmaster, etc., paints. |

The nice thing about a hobby is it's all voluntary. I fell in love with 6th Edition, upgraded to 7th, but didn't like 8th as much. so, I play 7th. I like the game play, I like the minis. I keep buying and painting and playing. Maybe I'll get excited by 11th Edition. Who knows? Who cares? Stay safe! |
