Nice looking game. I have to disagree with you on one point -- I don't think it is good game design to give grenadiers a shorter firing range -- it is catering to people who want games to be "even" and "fair" despite the fact that what the author is proposing is abject sillyness. I did buy the rules, but I have not had the opportunity to read them yet. That is one rule that is going to go right out the window. |

I'm not sure what you mean. Regardless, all I was saying is that I understand why game designers sometimes do the things they do, but that doesn't mean I agree with it wholly or in part. That's why we scrapped the 'Natives' troop type and made them all 'skirmishers'. Let me know what you think of the rules. Overall, I really like the other versions but am still not sold on this one. give grenadiers a shorter firing range - Funny, I'd not noticed that before. What a silly rule! If anything Grenadiers shooting should be MORE effective than your run-of-the-mill line infantry. I shall simply ignore it and allow Grenadiers (Shock Infantry in the rules) to shoot up to 18" like everyone else. |

Interesting that light inf can be sk and fired on as such but natives can sk but are not fired on as such. Curious? |

To me, when game designers make rules that make no sense, have no basis in reality, it betrays the fact that they really don't know much about the period at all. I find the same is often true of figure sculptors. |
