Does anyone do a wargame senario book for wotr or hyw ? One that is perhaps rule agnostic, but gives oob, deployment, livery's maybe, like a how to do crecy as a wargame, how to do stoke etc. It seems an obvious book for someone to produce but I can't find one. I was thinking of maybe getting bloody barons rule, not for the actual rules, but I think it contains scenarios as well ? I'm suprised there's not a whole series of such books, is it just wargammers like to research it themselves? Or is the history so dodgy a definitive guide can not be produced ? |

Try contacting the lance and longbow society – a google search should find them. |

Check SAGA Publications for the books by Terry Gore. On Military Matters in the US carries them. Caliver Books in the UK may carry them. |

I just checked the OMM website & Terry wrote a scenario book for medieval battles and also one for Wars of the Roses battles. |

Yes indeed, dodgy historical data. |

Thanks for the info. wargamming is a funny hobby. There's no real money in it, but a 68 page scenario books costs £19.99 GBP there's no detail on the book at all, and any webpages selling it look like they were designed by a 5 year old back at the birth of the internet. I'm not spending 20 quid based a cover screen shot. The hobby doesn't do itself any favours does it ? Googling the scenario book title turned up all these free scenarios though.. link The holiber newsletter looks good, but they don't sell back issues, I'd have paid money for back issues… Games workshop was THE most profitable uk company 2018. That's over every other uk company. All of them. A wargamming company making a Massive profit. Their websites slick of course… Sorry rant over but really what is it with the rubbish presentation…. |

You are paying for the research of the author. It takes a considerable amount of time to do that and put the info down on paper and get it bound & published. The medieval/WOTR eras were Terry's special fields and he knew his stuff, IMO. These are spiral bound full size 8.5" x 11" publications, not the smallish booklets like the Freezywater publicaions are. I believe that if you would buy one you would be very happy with it. The price is basically 1 pound per scenario, maybe a little bit more. |

"All issues are available on 2 CDs for £12.00 GBP GBP each" Ok that is good value, I'm actually going to buy that "The price is basically 1 pound per scenario," Yep if you put it like that, its worth it. I think its the presentation of the websites I object to. No info at all.If amazon sold it, it would have a full description, reviews maybe even sample pages, it will sell me the book, rather than dare me to risk £20.00 GBP on a thumbnail. As a relative newcomer to the hobby (returned after 40 year break when I was 12) I find it suprising the Warhammer makes multi million and historics makes almost none ( Is Warlord an Exception ?) I'm sure theres amissed marketing opportunity there… |
