Superglue is notorious for having a short shelf life. When you purchase superglue, do you write down the date of purchase so you know when the stuff is too old to trust?

Gear Pilot05 Jun 2020 12:19 p.m. PST

No, but I probably should.

SWMBO does not allow me to date.

I buy a six pack online for delivery of Loctite CA and go through it in a couple of months. Apparently beer and chocolate also have "best if used by dates" … what is that about?

I try to use as much as possible from the tube and then throw it away. So I try to save up all of my gluing projects and do them all in a day or so. It doesn't always work that way. And of course I buy the smallest containers of glue.

No sir, I am a married man.

John Armatys05 Jun 2020 1:11 p.m. PST

No, but following a tip on TMP I have taken to keeping my stock of superglue in the fridge.

HostileContact05 Jun 2020 1:18 p.m. PST

I try not to. The relationship is often…….sticky.

Dang. All the best jokes were taken.

No, I don't note when I buy it. When it seems not to work anymore, I just buy more.

BTCTerrainman Supporting Member of TMP05 Jun 2020 1:31 p.m. PST

Nope since I never use it at all.

MajorB05 Jun 2020 1:52 p.m. PST

Never use superglue. Too brittle.

14Bore05 Jun 2020 1:59 p.m. PST

Like it has a chance to stick around very long?

Dynaman878905 Jun 2020 2:05 p.m. PST

No – but I have gotten sticky fingers from it…

Ferd4523105 Jun 2020 2:06 p.m. PST

evilgong05 Jun 2020 4:14 p.m. PST

I swipe right on some Krazy Glue Gel.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP05 Jun 2020 5:01 p.m. PST

A little light conversation, possibly over dinner. But not an actual date. And I don't trust anyone. Glue is no different.

I go thru it to quik to bother..rather needless thing to do though .if it is dry .you;ll know.

von Schwartz05 Jun 2020 6:13 p.m. PST

No, I found her too clingy.

Andrew Beasley05 Jun 2020 8:54 p.m. PST

Nope but I can normally tell from the smell.

If it does not stink I know it's not going to be good but it's so rare now I've not binned a tube or bottle for years and that includes the stuff that's spent a year or two in the roof!

Is this tied into that poll about pick-up lines?

Personal logo Herkybird Supporting Member of TMP06 Jun 2020 9:08 a.m. PST

I use glues in rotation, and have found very few problems. I tend to only buy glue when I am getting a bit low on stock.

von Schwartz08 Jun 2020 5:38 p.m. PST

No attraction, NOW my magnets….that's another story!
