This was an armoured train I built for my Russian Civil War armies. It is based on a roughly O guage toy Chrismas train. Apologies again for duplication in crossposting on the RCW board. At least there are new pics for those who haven't already been to the blog.
Some WIP pics
I also built an armed wagon for this other train. Much less sctachbuilding though.

Thats coming out wonderfully! Love the turrets, and especially the WIP pics of them, very clever. Ill be copying you when i get to my armored train project. The rivets worked out great, too. Id be interested to hear what others have used for rivets, including in smaller scales. I was thinking about trying tiny dollups of my kids' glitter glue (spray painted over of course, i dont think any RCW forces had anything that fabulous). Perhaps a discussion for another thread though! Thanks again for sharing. |

Beautiful work. Love the rivets. I always have liked armored trains. I tried my hand at the train in the movie "dark of the sun"I think it's the same raw material.

Thanks all. Nice train Bobgnar. It looks like a similar Goldlok or copy base. I don't know the movie. Is that a 50 cal in the tender? Hey Boggler. Strelnikov, that's a thought. Maybe I need a figure for him. I love the idea of a sparkly armoured train Makhno. :) One of the guys on LAF used 5 minute expoxy applied with a toothpick to make rivets. That might work better for 1/72 or OO/HO trains. link |

That's quite a project. I bet you'll miss doing it when it's completed. Please post a pic when it's done. |
