I liked it. I thought stealing plot points from "Close Encounters" was an interesting choice. |

Saw it last night and was delighted. It mixes low budget and a plot idea that has been beaten to death for decades yet turns it into something that feels completely novel. I would gladly re-watch it. |

Another interesting, recent film about first contact is Cosmos, which is streaming o Amazon Prime. More of a slow burn drama, but there is science-fiction thrown in and it's an interesting look at what a first contact would be. Longer than The Vast of Night and a bit slow at times, but the payout is worth it. |

Thanks for the tip on Cosmos. It's on the watch list. I still haven't actually watched The Vast of Night! Maybe tonight. |

"The Beyond" is another interesting movie of similar subject. The transfer of humans to humans 2.0 reminds me of a short story by Clifford Simack called "Desertion". It's an interesting subplot of the movie on how humans will have to adapt (change) to be able to travel in deep space. |
