Hello, von Schwartz: I recently left a comment suggesting making Prussian and Austrian battalions equal in size. GdeP |

Didn't see that comment yet, sorry. That's kinda what I was expecting though. I knew there would be some that disagreed and I was wondering what the general consensus was? |

I applaud all the work done by the people who contribute to Kronoskaf. However, look at their "disclaimer" on the first page – "no guarantee of validity." Using Krnoskaf, I just dug into the organization of Austrian Musketeer and Prussian Musketeer battalions (no numbers given for Prussian Fusilier, or Austrian Grenz units). Essentially for the opening of the 7YW: Aust: Austrian "book" strength of 2 nattalions of 18 officers and 798 men – 816 persons each battalion. Had 6 companies. 2 grenadier companies of 100 men each. Pruss: 2 battalions of 856 persons, plus 2 grenadier companies. Battalions had 5 administrative companies that fought as 4 companies of equal size in battle. Later stated that a 4 company grenadier battalion was supposed to have 754 men! Nearly double a 4-company composite Austrian grenadier battalion. GdeP |
